Avantech Ltd was incorporated in 2004 as Contract Mining, Civil Earth works, Construction, Mining Supplier and Plant Hire Company.
It started with plant hire assignments at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) on the Copperbelt’s of Zambia and suppling various services to Mining Companies including Mill balls and timber to Mopani Mines.
In 2006 Avantech Ltd was awarded the opportunity to hire earth moving equipment to WBHO as a subcontractor under Equinox Lumwana Mining Company during the construction phase of Lumwana (the biggest Zambian Green Field Mining Operations after independence). Following from the good work done, it was then been requested to continuing to hire equipment to WBHO during the Lumwana Mine Green Field plant site construction establishment for the process plants and office laydown including in pit services areas.
It was at that time that LMC saw the potential in Avantech Ltd thanks to a track record of good safety and environmental practices, efficiency, professionalism and timely delivery of all projects.
LMC then decided to give Avantech Ltd the opportunity to start hiring plant directly.
No longer a simple subcontractor, in 2008 Avantech Ltd was awarded its first independent multi-million dollars Bulk Earthworks Project which was successfully completed on time.
In 2009 Avantech was awarded the first independent Malundwe Open Pit Overburden Mining/Fresh and Ore Mining Contract, which also included bush clearing, topsoil stripping and various plant hire contracts (Bulldozers, Excavators, Dump truck and more).
During the same year Avantech was again awarded another multi-million Bulk Earthworks Projects, multi-staged Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and Water Storages Facility (WSF).
Avantech continued being awarded these projects (Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) and Water Storages Facility (WSF) from stage 2 (2008) up to stage 5, all successfully completed in 2014 moving a total of over 25 million Bank Cubic Meters (BCM) of compacted fill earth materials.
In 2010 Lumwana decided to open another Open Pit area in Chimiwungo Open Pit Mining area and Avantech was awarded the first ever green field mining operations for the Chimiwungo Bulk Earth works which included, but was not limited to, bush clearing, top soil stripping, digging of diversion channels, installation of mass drainage structures, multi-plate culverts, In-Pit service areas platforms, Diversion Dams and Mine Haul road construction.
Avantech demonstrated a high level of proficiency and delivered these projects before deadlines.
During the construction phase of Chimiwungo, Avantech was awarded another mining contract, LMC0635 (in 2012), to start overburden stripping in this pit
Avantech decided then to increase its mining fleet to meet the increasing mining volume demands and acquired a ZDA investment license of $ 30,000,000, making it the first Zambian Mining Contractor to be allowed to acquire mining equipment over 100 tons.
Avantech successfully executed this contract in June 2016 and was then awarded another mining Contract, LMC0925, which was a tough but exciting tender process. It was another flawless achievement for the Avantech team.
In order to fully understand the magnitude of all these achievements, it is important to note that all the works being or which have been awarded to Avantech so far, have been the results of tough tenders against well renowned international Mining Companies and establishments, among which we can mention Aveng Moolmans, Barzell Reeds, Chantete, Kascco, McMahons Australia and many more.
